Careful with online searching! You can conduct your own preliminary searching on the Internet to get an idea as to whether or not your invention might be patentable (new and inventive) or your trade mark registrable (new and distinctive). If you find documents that look close to, but are not the same as your invention or mark, contact us and we will advise on the possibility or otherwise of them preventing you from obtaining valid patent or trade mark rights. Quite often documents which look relevant are not, and documents which don't look particularly relevant are!
If you find no relevant documents, it would be wise to ask us to conduct a confirmatory search for you as we have access to databases to which you probably don't have access and we are also very experienced in patent and trade mark searching, which are not particularly easy tasks.
