Singapore Trade Mark Steps & Timeline
Convention and Non-Convention Trade Mark Applications


This sets out the progress of a typical application and should be taken as a guide only. Always contact us for advice relevant to your specific situation.

STEP 1: Priority Date
File priority application, if any

STEP 2: Within 6 months of Step 1 (if priority claimed)
File Singapore trade mark application

STEP 3: 1-3 months from Step 2
Receive preliminary notice of deficiency, if any

STEP 4: 2 months from Step 3
Remedy any deficiencies

STEP 5: 3-6 months from Step 2 or Step 4
Receive examination report if there are objections

STEP 6: 6 months from Step 5
Respond to examination report
Further examination reports may issue if there are unresolved issues

STEP 7: Approx. 3 months from Step 2, Step 4 or Step 6
If application accepted, application advertised in Singapore Trademarks Journal. 2 months opposition period.

STEP 8: Approx. 3-6 months from Step 7
Trade Mark Registration Certificate issues (if mark not successfully opposed)

STEP 9: 10 years from Step 2 and every 10 years thereafter
Pay renewal fee
