Singapore Design Filing & Prosecution Requirements
Convention & Non-Convention Applications

Minimum Requirements for Obtaining a Filing Date
(Convention applications must be filed within 6 months of the earliest priority date - not extendible)

  • Applicant's name, address, nationality and state of incorporation (if appropriate)
  • Article to which the design is applied and Locarno classification, if known.
  • Drawings showing the design from all angles, or original photographs (5 copies of each). For 2-dimensional designs applied to a textile article, a sample may also be provided.
  • Features of the design which are new (e.g. shape and configuration or pattern and ornament).
  • If priority claimed: date and country of filing of priority application.
  • If the applicant is not the same as in the priority application, details of how the applicant derives the right to claim priority.
  • If the designer is not the applicant, details of applicant's right to apply for the design (e.g. by employment or assignment).

After Filing in Singapore*

  • A certified copy of the priority application along with a certified English translation, if not in English
